Forgiveness and Care

Dear beloved of God, you might be wondering, what of those who are beyond even their own power? Most could use forgiveness and care more than anything else. This is a profound statement that speaks to the deepest spiritual need: to be needed and loved. God loves you and needs you to recognise this need of yours so fulfilled, that you have but to pay forward.

That fool in power from yesterday’s post may have little say in the larger schemes, yet he still carries within him the weight of his own choices and the pain of his own ignorance, all the more if they go unrecognised. Humanity is and was born as dead but brought to life with the greater understandings. We navigate a valley of darkness, seeking after the light.

And so, I ask: who has not been a fool? Who has not been dead in the spirit? Who has not been exhausted in faith or worse? Who among us has not needed forgiveness and care more than anything else? You never found it in the material as hiding in the shadows because it is not there, it is at the light as it ever was. Even the most enlightened is not immune to error, to pride, and that whole temptation towards self-deception.

Forgiveness cannot be some passive act, it is active as a constant choice made every second to extend the grace so lovingly granted you to those who have fallen, to those who deny their own folly, to those blinded by power or ambition, and to those who are simply lost in the labyrinths of their own making, and the awareness in this is replicated in patience as well as prudence. To forgive is not to condone or even forget important lessons, but share in hope, and remind that fool in front of you, and the fool inside, that he is not beyond redemption and is never beyond the reach of divine love.

You are limited in your capacity to help in many ways including by how the fool perceives you. There are limits to the good we can do, too. This is humbling and sad, but we refuge from despair with humility and find our trust in God the intact diamond at the end of it all. We cannot change the world alone; we can only offer what we have, the greatest of which is love.
