Pit of Continuing Error
Progress is the movement toward something greater. Growth is the unfolding of our potential into its fullness as far as we can progress, and extend that progression further still. In continuing sin, we are choosing to remain where we are, rather than moving forward or growing.
This is a truth that is often overlooked, even by those who claim to believe in God’s grace and the power of redemption. Sins are about far more than the actions themselves. We as children of God are about overcoming the sinful state of being to get beyond it. When we choose to remain in this state, we are choosing to reject transformation, which is the purpose of grace.
Greater good is reduced when we slow progress, stopping all together collectively with enough people so forestalled. Our potential capacity for goodness as the fruits of God’s gifts is completely determined by our willingness for Jesus-aligned change. The ability to love is refined by growth, so ultimately we miss out on levels of additional love, in the greater contours of God’s creation.
