Be Aware in All Actions Dear Man

Central to the journey of reflecting grace through magnanimity is honesty, the bedrock upon which all reason, and therefore all proceeding virtues, must stand. Magnanimity demands that we be honest and aware of ourselves and others, acknowledging faults and ordering higher expectations. Rather than wallow in pity parties over shortcomings, we confront errors with clarity and resolve. When we do this, we open the door to genuine transformation, to becoming the best versions of ourselves.

Grace enables us to walk the straight and narrow path, not with trepidation but with joy, knowing that we make progress everyday. This grace enabled progress provides a sense of peace that transcends circumstances and wears any emergency. It’s the knowledge that no matter how dark the night, dawn is inevitable; no matter how much we are restricted, we may always perform good and do righteously. This is strength, and empowering others toward this is the most righteous power.

Magnanimity has a ripple effect, touching everything around it. As we cultivate this virtue, we inspire those near us to do likewise. Grudges hold onto themselves in our discontent, a desert of ‘mini-animity’ (little soul). Our actions resonate through the domains of our labour and community (Telos and Eros). In labour, where we balance product with craft, magnanimity ultimately grounds our pursuits in love, not blind ambition or ego; the forgiveness which is consistent and constant grants with it ever-present reminders of what our struggle is actually for. We strive for excellence not in the material nor just in the present, but in the eternal aspects. Our struggle is not ours alone, just as we are not.

Let us embrace grace and its model toward magnanimity, guiding our journey towards ever greater virtues. Let us recognise that this path begins with forgiveness, both of others and ourselves: reflective of God’s boundless love. This is the divine rhythm of existence built into the universal order. What more could be worthy of the striving? The world may be filled with challenges and uncertainties, but with Christ’s example as our compass, we navigate its tumultuous seas with love and appreciation. Taking firm grasp upon forgiveness resounds the most beauteous and transformative quality in all the universe: God’s unending love.
