Leadership in Doing Good Instead of Shmolitics

Hope is a choice, just as much as despair, but there is always the underlying reason for hope or despair: where our faith and biases rest. A bias toward life is more than just optimism; it’s an active choice to focus on possibilities rather than limitations. Be proud of this bias, as it represents the only alternative to bottomline biases. This is about seeing challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation. For men of Western nations navigating contemporary society, this mindset can be particularly powerful in overcoming the barriers that hinder our good intentions. There is a certain additional layer of power in our current position, despite the resistance.

Firstly, try to recognise and appreciate the good in your life, regardless of any disadvantages you may feel. Look toward the spirit and internal gifts for this, and do not reside upon material things or issues revolving around money. Gratitude fosters a mindset that is open to receiving and giving more goodness. Instead of dwelling on problems, focus on finding solutions. This shift in perspective can turn obstacles into stepping stones. Understand that you don’t have all the answers, and be willing to admit this instantaneously, but but also stress that we are all part of larger communities seeking progress, after some fashion, even if those conceptions are imperfect.

Create positive impact through his leadership. Do not be paralysed by any potential backlash or criticism. Focus instead on the opportunities to make a difference and move forward, regardless any preconceived notions of people immaterial to the process. Do it the way that will have the most positive impact. Engage with actual stakeholders, not stock or share-holders. Listen to the needs of these stakeholders alone, and tailor business practices to address those needs specifically and primarily. This openly progressive and obvious approach builds trust and creates lasting positive change. Ignore naysayers.

Embrace a bias toward life, and demand it of others. Define what you want to achieve and why it matters in terms of genuine improvement of life and quality of standards. Clarity of purpose fuels positive motivational energies and channels them into actions. Engage with people and environments that uplift and inspire you. Positive energy is contagious. Don’t be overwhelmed by the magnitude of challenges. Start with small, manageable actions and build from there. Find small acts of hope and resilience that can be done daily, and build upon these actively. In this embrace of life, we discover the path to universal goodness that transcends adversity.
