I am a nationalist because I take great pride in the people who belong to my nation and their unique qualities. My pride is clearly focused on the individuals and communities that make up my country, rather than on physical elements like dirt, pieces of paper such as documents or certificates, imaginary boundaries on maps, legal systems, or even foreigners, no matter how impressive or admirable they may be. These other aspects do not inspire a sense of pride in me because they lack the personal and cultural significance that the people themselves hold.
Therefore, my pride is rooted firmly in the human element of my nation, not in the abstract or material components surrounding it. Give me the best dirt, the best papers, the best boundaries, best laws, and best foreigners, and I can never be proud of those, because they hold no genuine attachment to my authentic identity.
Why is this the case? When you really dig deep and get right down to the very marrow of this matter, it all fundamentally revolves around achieving the greatest GOOD possible. I simply cannot do as much Good by focusing on any of those other things as effectively as I can when working through my own people; my own nation knows me and I know it. The most significant and impactful UNIVERSALS THAT ANYONE CAN EVER ACHIEVE ARE INVARIABLY ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THEIR PARTICULARS.
